Scupley - Spotlighter by Arborpunk Scupley - Spotlighter by Arborpunk
Some pictures of a sculpey I did for mah buddy :iconsparkleninja:'s birthday. <33 She saw these last week, but...I didn't have any decent glowing pictures until now. XD

It came out pretty cool. The pictures don't really do it justice at all. The paint I used for the main color (airbrushed, by the way!) came out unexpectedly hard and shiny...it's like touching a new car! Beautiful paint but it also make it a little hard to photograph. 8'D Also the anatomy on this thing (particularly the back legs and the chest) is way better than my other sculpeys. <3 I love the back legssss, they're really..shapely....up close.

This was basically My Art Of January XDD;;; Veeeery time consuming. Learned a lot though. The main problem I ran into was the fact that with all the details it's very very top heavy. I took precautions to strengthen it but the arms still ended up sinking down while I was finishing work before baking. 8'D I did want the crouch pose, but maybe not a big curve in the arms. It's also why I ended up drawing their detail on instead of carving it in. It didn't help that the thing is just heavy in general; it used maybe a little more than 1 box of super sculpey? So yeah, it was trying to hold up a whole pound of clay :X

The glow in the dark is pretty sweet. One of my favorite details. Some interesting tidbit: The eyes were originally holes I just jabbed in there. When I started painting I filled them up with the glowing paint, let them dry, rinse and repeat until they formed solid 'lenses'. It worked really well; they're super. bright. 8D

Anyway, hope you like! <33

Thank you! Holy crap this thing took forever to make. ;3; I had to bake it SO many times just so it could support all of the weight up top. The glow stuff was just paint from the craft store, but if you layer it about 50 billion times it turns out really nice. o_o That and I have a radioactive blacklight.

It's some generic glow paint from Joanns. XD But it's layered SUPER thick and it's like 'WHOOooaaaaa omg' since it's so close to my blacklight.

Oh man this is super cool eue
Did you use wire for the limbs/tail? o: Or did it just hold up on its own?

I did! Though I didn't put enough wire into the front arms. XDD;; The tail has wire but it also WAS able to stay in the air. Before I baked it I ended up twisting it over and attaching it to the leg for more support. :>

Ah c: I have a character with a spindly tail I tried to make out of sculpty - the one in my icon, actually! - so that little bit of knowledge helps~ What kind of wire? Or any kind? o:

Well, I have a couple spools of safety wire from the hardware store (0.032 gauge mainly, and 0.020). They last...forever. I've had to have had these things for at least 10 years XDD;;;;
